Joost van der Leij is the author of ‘You, Unlimited: mind reading the masses with NLP’ and an international NLP trainer based in Amsterdam.
An academic philosopher by profession, Joost taught philosophy at the university before turning to the much more practical art of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Nevertheless his philosophical background gives him a unique perspective on seemingly separated parts in NLP. This enables him to connect these remote parts systematically without turning NLP into a dry theory. NLP is after all an activity you do rather than memorise.
Joost’s teleclass will discuss ‘the Surface & Deep Structure Model’. Often misunderstood and passed over this apparent diagram hides a lot of depth. It is the fundamental secret that makes NLP work. It is the basis for the correct applications of the meta-model and the reason why people delete, distort and generalize reality when they communicate. It explains how the Milton-model and its reverse – the meta-model, work in influencing other people. Most of the NLP presuppositions like “the map is not the territory” and “everything can be meaningfuly stated in terms of the five senses” can be deprived of this hidden gem. And finally it tells you why changing submodalities changes people. All the more reason to go in depth into this subject.
